The Garmin nuvi 350 Asian Americas Version allows North American drivers who speak Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai or Taiwanese to experience the convenience, safety and fun of GPS navigation. The Garmin nuvi 350 is a portable GPS navigator, travelers reference, and digital entertainment system, all in one. Combined with detailed maps, the nuvi provides automatic routing, turn by turn voice directions, and finger touchscreen control making it easy to find your way anywhere. The unique text to speech feature calls out turns by street name. This versatile travel assistant is approximately the size of a deck of playing cards, meaning you can slip it in your pocket and take it anywhere. The nuvi 350 also comes with approximately 700 MBs of internal memory for storage of supplemental maps, MP3s, and audio books. The nuvi also offers a travel kit of useful travel tools to help keep any journey fun MP3 player, audio book player, JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, and calculator. In addition, optional software packages such as the Language Guide and Travel Guide, sold separately on SD Data cards, can be added for language and content support.

So if you select American English -Jill {TTS} it works great, just no other language. However, if you plan to use the asian languages for speech be aware that text to speech for announcing the street names in English or the asian language is not supported, "only directions." Contacted tech support and the claim is that there is no advertised statement that says this feature is supported when asian languages are used for speech. So please do so. As recommended by friends, the garmin is one of the nicer gps' on the market. It's easy to use and accurate. You can make a request to have them implement this which would make this product AWESOME.
